This method wouldn't work the same on a Redfish cockpit. Instead of the vertical strips on Guillemots, Redfish kayaks use bent laminations to create the coaming. If wider stock was used for the laminations, this could be accomplished.

: them integral with the coaming. Just extend the vertical coaming strips
: along the cockpit sides in the area where you want the cheekplates. Of
: course, some of the aesthetic effect is lost behind the hip pads, but it
