I'm about to install my sheer strips and have a quick question before I do. Nick recommends installing sheer strips with one cove edge and one flat edge--the flat edge being the side that eventually mates with the deck. One Ocean Kayaks' website recommends installing a sheer strip with a cove on each side--the advantage being a bead and cove joint where the deck meets the hull.

I am leaning toward using the double-cove method, but I wonder whether the cove will hold up during the construction process, without getting to banged up. Does anyone have any feedback on the double-cove method?
