Hi Risto,
I have built 2 Greenland paddles with hollow looms. I used a router with a 1" round nose bit in a router table to hollow it out and then glued the two halves together. The first paddle has a 1-1/2" diameter loom which I find quite comfortable even as big as that sounds. It weighes just over 2 lbs. The second is a slimed down version with a loom of 1-1/4 x 1-3/8", I kept the glued joints to a minimum and made the blades from cedar with a steam bent ash rib around the edge for wear resistance. The paddles is 1.89 lbs. and is very flexible. But, I haven't broken it yet!
