No, but . . . lauan, a/k/a Meranti and Philippine mahogany, is 1) not a mahogany, and 2) timbered out in the Philippines, so export restrictions should not effect supply. You will notice that most lauan ply is manufactured in Indonesia, from domestic timber. the Indonesians got tired of exporting logs to Japan where the high value added profits of converting them into ply were made. So they built their own mills about 20 years ago with a mind to export the ply.
I think Walter means okume (sp?) a tropical hardwood ply. Oakum is the stuff used to seal the plank seams on a carvel hull.
