Seems that there are a few reasons to leave space. Not leaving space presupposes straight built strongback, perfectly cut holes, difficulty removing forms. Obviously doesn't affect most, but cannot help the problems situations.

I guess that's the pt of the post that there's a method. Another method mentione woudl be split forms. Another would be the face clamp method but applied horixontally thru sideways holes in the strongback. Could then virtually strip the whole yak and at the end just drive a thinnish pc of metal thru the sheer join pushing the pin out sideways. Then careful bonging(a musician's controlled version of banging). One would have a backer pces just like in the usual face clamp method.

Over time you'd end up w/ a stronback w/ multiple horizontal holes for all the different form spacing.(If one used other thant 1ft- like in scaleing or fitting)

I guess it may be an idea(don't know how good) to set up forms loosely on the strong back w/ 11 1/2 in spacers in between held in place by elastic bands say and then about 2 or 3 ft form the ends apply a turn bucklw or big web clamp on a horizontal slot thru the stronback putting pressure on the spacers. Each spacer applies pressure on the next form sortal ike those kids toys you press form below and they flop over but in reverses. Thightent the buckle or clamp, set the forms, really cinch down and lay up. When all done, slip a long knife thur the sheer and slice the clamp. The whole bunch would then be free?
