: I am partial to the Intertec. I think it's German, and harder than most to
: find, but it has some terrific features. One is a huge, square pleated
: paper filter, mounted horizontally in the top of the machine. There is
: also a "beater" operated from outside, without taking the top
: off, that wiggles the fine on the filter so accumulated dust falls to the
: bottom. Just turn it off, wiggle the handle a couple times, and go back to
: work. Paper filter bags are also available for tough materials like
: concrete dust. There is also a 110 VAC plug on the front of the unit that
: operates the vac on demand when the tool fires up, and that's very
: convenient. It's also compact, square, and not so topheavy that it falls
: over when you try to drag it around by the hose. Also, it has about 25' of
: cord. There is a similar machine made by WAP, also German. In fact, they
: may be badge-engineered clones, but in any case they are both excellent
: machines.

I would describe my Porter Cable vac exactly as above. I've used it for a number of years now and have been very happy with it. I expect it's probably at least a hundred bucks cheaper than the Fein or the models described above.
