Another hollow shaft issue

This is probably covered by having a strong backup paddle, but a paddle will experience some severe point loads close to the blade/shaft location on paddle float rescues in wavy conditions. Having a hollow shaft here is a big compromise. Any buckling at all is virtually failure.

I just can't balance the issue between the desire for a really light (and strong in usual usage) paddle versus a club, but would say that any paddler without technique or rescues should not use one in other than simple conditions.
