: O.K......now I'm getting confused... I thought that the original suggestion
: to use the Walrus design was to build a form and them build a plywood boat
: around it, as opposed to a SOF. I thought it was just an alternative to
: get plywood boats more efficiently than the S&G method, but that we would
: end up with very similar end products. We definately want to end up with
: plywood boats with an epoxy finish, because we want them to be fairly

No Confusion intended Chris. Mike Hanks has successfully built a plywood boat off the Walrus forms, set up on the strongback. The forms are all square edged/sided and narrow panels of plywood can be simple held up to the forms and lines drawn from form to form. Then cut out and stitched together or attached to the forms and glued with epoxy/tape along the seams. The deck is left basically up to the builder, either flat or rounded, whatevery you wish. With the kids being smaller than most adults, you/they could probably get away with flat decks. I believe Mike said it was much simpler to build than the original SOF version. Just email Mike and I'm sure he can give you all the details you need. ( just locate one of his posts and click on it, then to go the name and the email address is in blue next to it. Click on that and you're on your way. I think you will be very pleased with his results and technique.
