:My question is how does everyone deal with cleaning their vacs and disposal
: of the dust? Thanks John
Well, I take mine out in the dooryard and dump it where I plan to pave with concrete. I usually attempt to stand upwind. Usually fail. I have a cotton filter. I use a bench brush to get the cake off the filter. I'm told the cotton filters better with some dust in the fibers so I don't clean it further.
In my seach for "dream shop" ideas I've come accross guys who have moved the vac dust control system outside. This seems the way to go. I particularly like the system adapted to drop eveything in a dumpster which is hauled away.
If you are going to invest in an expensive vac, why not go for a dust control system. I've seen 1hp systems for as little as $99. For a couple hundred you can get a good starer system that drops the heavier stuff into a plastic bag for disposal. You can use this trick on your shopvac too. Find the right size plastic garbage liner and put it in your canister with the top folded over the rim. Clamping the top unit on will hold it in place. You can "inflate" the liner by grasping either side of the open end and flinging it over your head and down. It will fill with a pop which always sends the cats running.
