I've had glue line failures with ash (should'a let it season, I guess!). Even then it took five years in the weather before it let go. I use WEST products and have generally had good luck with red oak, but last summer I built a couple of CLC's folding seats in red oak and they quickly came apart. Reglued with Titebond II and they've held up.
