: At what point do you stop filling the little pin holes and small gaps before
: putting on the epoxy and glass. Will the epoxy fill these small voids?

I have used water based wood filler on my S&G (actually it's made for wood flooring and trowel application). I made the mistake of applying epoxy to the inside before worrying about the holes left by the copper wire. The color came out fine ...with exception of a dark brown ring around the perimeter, where the epoxy had soaked in. Next time I'll try applying wood filler before any epoxy...may work better. Other than this "small" problem, the filler dries in 15 min or so and is immediatelt sandable.
