Lip is bad, but if you half to have some make sure that you use some thickened epoxy to smooth the seem. If you don't then you will end up with some wicked air bubbles which may be impossible to correct without a 3 yearold climbing into the end of your boat with a syringe. I'm not one to endorse this method although I was close to subjecting my son to just this job when I found out the hard way that precision counts when lining up your seems. Russ and I worked some wicked yough seams usinf ratcheting nylon tie down straps and blocks of wood on the outside while at the same time using counter preasur with sticks on the inside. Lots of sweat but we were able to fix what appeared to be horrific mismatches. If you have some overstep on the outside which cannot come true and you have smoothed out the inside then you can add some filler strips and fair them in then glass up.
