A sack of concrete is around $3. The expanding foam material is more expensive, but it does work OK.
With the expanding foam, you can use the result as a seat directly. OR, f you don't like sitting on the hardened foam, you can take the resulting plug of plastic and cut it into 1 or 2 inch wide strips on a band saw -- or you can use a heated wire. Use these strips as models for cutting a final seat from 1 or 2 inch thick pieces of minicell foam, then glue them together and sand smooth the seams. Finish the top and sides of the foam with a glued on layer of stretch fabric, such as spandex, or lycra.
Or you can put a layer of glass cloth and resin over the top of the hard foam. You cna leave the foam in place for some additional support, or you can remove it with solvents.
