Stripping alfresco wasn't going too well with yellow glue, what with the freezing temps at night and the high humidity during the day. You can see some white lines between strips where the yellow glue froze and turned to chalk. Rob Macks mentioned that he used polyurethane glue on his decks because heat doesn't soften it and make joints creep, so I tried it. This stuff bubbles and foams and expands by a factor of 2 or 3, as can be seen in the pic. A small dot of Gorilla Glue, as small as could be applied, was placed every 4" and the strips clamped as usual. After installing 5 strips this way I hit it a lick with the block plane, and the results are shown below. The right side of the pic is untouched, and the left shows that the blobs disappear, and the joints do not open up under the pressure of the glue expanding. No nasty surprises, and the glue though expensive goes a very long way. Haven't tried it on planed strips yet.
