I sure identified with this post. I tore a rotator cuff in September while hanging davits on a previous owner built boat project. Surgery in November left me with lots of rehab. time for my kayak desires to evolve from plywood kit to plywood plans to stripper. Next came researching hull designs on the web, and reading construction books by, Nick Schade and Ted Moores. By January 1st I was out of the arm sling but still had no strength to try out any actual boats. By February, thanks to a ride in Ray Irons new boat and a visit to Ben Staley's shop, I was ready to order my Georgian Bay plans and get to work. Little did I realize that the decision to go staple-less would involve lots of inovation and my more than 60 clamps and so far two rolls of duct tape. My salt went on the walk. Currently, I'm just about ready to sand the hull and start on the deck. Thanks to Nick, Rob, Ted and all of you, I'm very excited about the day I can paddle my own kayak, then get started on one for my better half. I expect to be a long time reader of this BB.
