The Aleutian Kayak by Wolfgang Brinck, Ragged Mountain Press, Camden, Maine. An excellent book on SOF construction, paddles, clothing and other accessories. The techniques here are for a lashed frame boat using anthropormic measure. As Jay said "You build a Skin Boat to fit you." This will tell you how. "Bark and Skin Boats of North America" by Abney and Chappell is also very useful. There are surveys of boats from across the artic.

Both of these books are available from the Mystic Seaport store in Mystic Connecticut. Mark Starr, a staffer at the seaport, has Western Greenland and Aleutian designs that he has used in classes that are offered at the seaport. You could talk to him and get more information.
