It's hard to cover or even remember all the reasons I have for doing things the way I do and suggest in my plans, but every bit of construction is based on years of experience on what will work and what will fail in conditions of hard use.

I have found failures in gluing hard mounting points on hulls. A small block glued to the glass surface will rip off the glass because too much force is applied to a small area.

A larger mounting block will distribute the force to glass surface better but then you have problems with the different expansion rate cycles of the laminate to the block and this will cause failure.

There are just a lot of negative factors that pile up on that kind of attachment over time. This is the reason I have no heasitation on using bolts for foot pegs.

But go ahead glue'em on. Just don't start thinking about what I said when you're making that North Sea crossing.

I'll go stick my head in a tub and leave you alone.
