I just cut the loom, subtract any added lenght the ferrule may add and only round the cut ends to fit the ferrule. I try to rough up the insides of the ferrule with 50 grit paper so thickened epoxy on the paddle ends will hold well.

Of course, you want to make certain the blades are in alignment before that resin sets. Hey!, and now you can even feather your native paddle if you want OR not!

Newfound Woodworks sells stainless ferrules.
