That's a good point. If we all followed exactly what the directions said, there would be no new methods, nothing new to copy. Granted, there is a risk, in deviating from the instructions, but it's my contention that the results can be rewarding to the builder even if they aren't always apparent to the person who wrote the book. The results can be self satisfaction, or they might be just be a learning experience, which has it's own rewards.
