When fitting bevelled strip ends, the compound angles can be tricky. In the photo, the strips coming up from the sheer need to meet the strips coming up from the other side that have been cut down the centerline. To minimize planing, fussin' and cussin', rough cut the angle on the table saw. Nick's book shows how to get the shape correct, and a bevel gauge will tell you what the angle is. Most table saws tilt to 45 deg., and that's more than you will need for most strips. To help remember what that angle was when you fit the next strip, write the angle right on the strip itself.
