: Since I am finally finishing up the varnishing on my two Pygmys (woohoo!),
: I'm now thinking about where to store them.
: I have several possible spots around my yard that I could gin up a boat rack,
: but all of them receive lesser or greater amounts of sunlight.
: How detrimental is it, if at all, to store completed and varnished boats in a
: location where they receive sunlight? Or should I be considering putting
: together an awning or sewing up some boat covers out of poly tarps?
: I'm using Z-Spar Flagship for its high UV protection.
: I live in Seattle, where the sunlight is of course not terribly intense.
Something else that worries me other then UV varnish breakdown is the softing of yellow glue in heat. I had to remove a glued strip the other day and thought I would have to saw it off. I remember reading how the hot sun could soften glue and so I heat gunned the seam and the strip came off real easy by just using my fingers. Scarry.
