Crossing the road was never the issue. This analogy was meant to suggest, “do whatever you like, but don't TEACH bad habits.
I do not take this lightly when it COULD result in a hull failure. Your hull is only as strong as the weakest part. Failure does not have a habit of occurring in fair weather.
It would be horrible if one of our brethren/sistren of builders were to die in an accident with the boat they built, where this glass/sanding technique was the cause of hull failure.
Such a failure in an accident could also cause an outcry for some kind of regulations on home built boats. If you don’t want to follow plans, you sure don’t want that.
I’m just expressing my safety concerns, emphatically.
I fear and respect the sea.
