That's where we went. We started at Lowell park, went a mile or so to the east, then turned around and came back toward the starting point. We then turned North where you're talking about for about 1/2 mile, and then turned around and went back to Lowell park. It's a nice place to get away from it all. I hear it's easy to get lost in all of the criss-cross of rivers if you don't pay attention to where you are on the maps. That's probably more of the case in a power-boat than a kayak as the turns would come a lot quicker.
