Having built a couple of S&G boats, Ches 16 and WR180, I'm looking for something a bit different and am thinking of a strip deck on a Cormorant 16 S&G hull. Can anyone give me some advice, opinions, procedures, tips, etc on doing this? Should I strip on forms or on some permanent deck beams? What is the best way of handling the sheer clamps --- glue them to the hull as is normally done, or screw them to the hull and glue them to the deck so the deck can be removed for fiberglassing? I plan to paint the hull, so screw holes will not be an issue. I've read both Nick's book and Ted Moores' "Kayakcraft" (both excellent) but would like to hear from you folks that have done this. Thanks for your help.
