The deck on the SOF Return is progressing nicely (read, I'm done with ribs!!). Pics are at http://users.moscow.com/bprice/projectx/index.html .

Now the question: I have been debating the necessity of the kevlar roving on this boat. Originally, I was going to follow Platt Monfort to the letter, but after having handled the boat, it seems plenty rigid. A traditional boat, which this is similar to, does not have it. Platt's boats are all open top and would probably benefit from the roving, but the closed top kayak may be more solid. Should I for go the roving or not??

For those who are not familiar with roving, in this case it is a kevlar thread which is criss crossed over the boat frame, under the skin in order to strengthen the structure.
