No. Only airplanes with hard (plywood, aluminum, etc.) skins do not have bracing. Fabric airplenes have drag/anti-drag wires or struts within the wings. Or in the case of Wayne Ison designs, the ribs are covered with diagonal strips of wood for the same purpose. I think he calls his method "geodesic" as well. Those shear loads must be picked up somewhere.
