Hi Dave,
Well, I just finished drawing up a plan set for our Grebe which is basically a scaled down Cormorant and included both a stitch&glue and a strip-built version, but didn't think to combine the two. Guess if I were doing it, I would do something similar to one version of how we recommend a normal strip deck on one of our designs. I would definitely use temporary forms, and since you mentioned painting the hull, just screwing them in place would work. Set the forms 1/4" below the shear (or whatever deck thickness you plan on using). Strip the deck normally, with the outside strips up against the inside of the hull. Before installing the deck, glue in a 1/4" thick by 1/2" wide strip on the inside of the shear, set down the thickness of the deck to form a ledge. Plane the lower inside edge to a taper so it will be easier to glass over. Glue in the deck, glass the inside seam. Round over the outside shear edge and glass over it.
We don't use a rounded camber for the deck. It has a sharper curve in the center that gradually flattens out toward the shear. Something more like Ted Moores' but without the concave curve near the outside.
Just one idea, hope it helps. On the other hand, you can try something like the brave soul, Shawn describes. Probably more work, probably will look better, and, Shawn, I hope it works .
If you decide to pursue this, keep me informed and I will bail you out if any snags come up.

: Having built a couple of S&G boats, Ches 16 and WR180, I'm looking for

: etc on doing this? Should I strip on forms or on some permanent deck
: beams? What is the best way of handling the sheer clamps --- glue them to
: the hull as is normally done, or screw them to the hull and glue them to
: the deck so the deck can be removed for fiberglassing? I plan to paint the
