Thanks, Grant. That makes a lot of sense and seems to be an easy way to attach the deck. I don't think it would need to be nailed to the shear as it would already be curved and would have no tendency to spring away from the shear. I painted my WR180 around the shear for about 1" as CLC does on many of their boats and I like the look. I'll have to try to imagine the paint just rounding over the shear slightly.
With this size shear clamp, do you have any thoughts on attachments for deck lines, and bungees? Normally, I would use loops of nylon webbing screwed down with #8 X 1 phosphor bronze screws and washers. But 1/4 inch shear clamp doesn't have enough meat to to that. Maybe some blocks strategically attached to the underside of the deck at the appropriate points? Or recessed fittings (another new challenge)?
