: If the clips do go into this groove it looks
: like it would press the rubber door gasket so much that it might leak

You are right-on there John. Those clips do go into the rubber area and will eventually cause leaks or tear the seal, If you use the generic ones. There are some out, and I was told that the Sears Store here local carries them, that are made for specific models of vehicle and are shaped exactly like the molding in each car. ??? Of course I can't say for sure as I haven't gotten that far that I'm looking for them yet, but will soon. It's getting time!! I'm sporting a '93 Pontiac Grand Am GT 4 dr. and have no gutters, so I will be looking as well. My problem is, as David Barrett and I were looking at the other day, is whether my roof will even take the weight as it is very soft and pushes down with merely a finger. I'm not sure if I can even use the racks designed for it as it will, with two boats, on the freeway, at speed and passing other vehicles be subjected to some pretty nasty pressure. I don't want to crush my roof in just to haul my boats up to Washington. I guess I could talk David into loaning me one of his V.W. Buggies and head on up there, but that would be one very long "breezy" ride.

Am still lookin' on how I'm going to get them up there, but, I've got a couple of months to go and a whole boat to build before then, so.........
