: The gaps don't go through and they mostly occur in the stern where the strips
: are both bent and twisted. I think they are just angled more then the bead
: would allow the cove to go. Should I have trimmed back the bead a bit on
: the inside?
Oh, I thought they were just ordinary gaps between strips, say in the flat sections. The strips at the ends can be a real pain when you're trying to twist them and glue them in place. I haven't used cove and bead (I hand plane and sand all of my strips), but I can see how the extra flange of the cove piece would get in the way on a curve.
: I only used staples on the strip at the shear line and the strip on the keel.
: I found that duct tape...lots of it...and "hook" clamps...lots
: of them...worked pretty well for the rest of the hull.
: This is my first boat and I'm having so much fun it's not likely to be the
: last. Part of the enjoyment has been reading and learning from this
: board....I love this stuff:)
It is a lot of fun. Too bad all of the other projects around the house have to get neglected once the kayak building starts.
