Thank you all for your responses to my clip questions. It has given me the understanding of how it all works on a gutterless car. Yakima has a rack system that will fit my car for about $300 and Thul does not. But I have a lot of options now to think about. Sears, Rack Warehouse, and Yakima has a dealership with in a 100 miles in another state. It gulles me to think about a $300 rack that only fits one car that may be traded in a couple of years. The whole secret to this is 4 simple peices of strap metal bent at a right angle and bolted to two probably oak pieces running across the car. $20. And then custom fitting wood forms that fit the haul. Tie down straps and safety lines at the front and rear. The instalation would look nice and be strong. Anything wrong with this picture?
