With the Q towers you do not need to buy a whole new rack for $300. All you need is new clips to fit the car. I just changed cars to a PT Cruiser and all I needed was new clips to fit the new car at $20 a pair. My tie downs are not changed. The security of the Q tower system is important to me in transporting my Baidarka and the low cost of new clips made the change a no brainer. If your kayak is important to you I suggest you spent the initial money for a good system that can be changed easily.
