Funny thing --

Last night I was preaching on the Noah & the Ark text (Genesis 6-9) -- during Lent, we do midweek services....

So I'm talking about Noah building an ark in his basement, with all the neighbors thinking he's crazy and wondering how he's going to get it out the door, and thinking there's no way he'll be able to put that thing on a roof rack and drive it to the water..... but he's following God's instructions, etc. My parishioners are cracking up, because we've been through the "how will Pastor Julie get that kayak out of the basement" routine....

and as I'm talking, what's running through my head is whether Noah was using cove & bead strips, stapleless construction, whether he built a strongback first(internal? external?) whether he took the time to do an intricate deck design, what method he used to attach the deck to the hull, and whether he made recessed hatches.... undoubtedly he used an internal bungee system, so he could get out again after he landed.
