: I am planning on building a MC 13 or 15, have not decided yet. I’m thinking
: about using luan. I did a search and somebody said they did do it but
: could not bend the deck. My questions are: 1. Has anybody done a MC deck
: with luan?
: 2. If not, could a two-peace deck (like a Pygmy) be used?
: 3. If anybody has built a MC with luan can you give me any lessons you have
: learned?
: Thank you! Bill Boyle
I built a Mill Creek 13 from luan.
I did have some trouble with the deck, but it worked out okay in the end.
I think it pushes the limit of luan's flexibility, though.
I now use okoume, and I think it is worth the extra cost.
If I were to build the boat again, I would most definately use okoume.
That said, though, the boat turned out quite nicely anyways.
I've used it for about four years without problems.
