In Response To: Shaper bits = router bits (Paul G. Jacobson)

The shaper will certainly do a nice job on the cove and bead. If you have a chuck for 1/2 IN router bits it would make for much cheaper cutters. It realy is a very small bite. On the larger Guillemot a seem to remember a thread a while back that mentioned the proportions of the Guillemot L being different from the standard Guillemot. I don't remember the exact details but it had to do with the wieght distribution of a larger heavier paddler. It would also seem that a higher rear deck would be a detriment. I was very impressed that Nick did not simply do as you might imagine and just blow up the original plan to suit. On the other hand doing a 6% increase would probible produce a very nice boat but it would not be the same as the boat Nick has seen fit to design for the larger paddler. I wish more of the whitewater designers would pay more attention to the needs of larger paddlers with bigger feet. Steve
