: I am planning on building a MC 13 or 15, have not decided yet. I’m thinking
: about using luan. I did a search and somebody said they did do it but
: could not bend the deck. My questions are: 1. Has anybody done a MC deck
: with luan?
: 2. If not, could a two-peace deck (like a Pygmy) be used?
: 3. If anybody has built a MC with luan can you give me any lessons you have
: learned?
: Thank you! Bill Boyle
I have built one Ches 18, 3 Ches 14, one Mill Creek 15, all with luan. I have learned this....all luan is not equal! Depending on the manufacturer, some has a lot of voids and some of it doesn't. I am fortunate in that my lumber yard will allow me to go through the stack and hand pick the sheets that I find suitable. I would not use 1/4 inch for the deck if 1/8 were available. I do fill all voids and pre coat with epoxey before use. I have not had the first problem with the luan.
