Hey, Hitman, no problem. There are a number of sources for bamboo, some already milled into boat-size strips. A lot of this gets used in flooring. As Sam said, it is fairly heavy, and kind of plain in large amounts. I suppose that a narrow strip might look good in some designs. When the time comes to thin out the stuff growing in my house (it is about 30 feet tall and 1 1/2" diam) I might try some on a boat.

Speaking of heavy woods, though, There are many really eye-catching exotics that maybe could be used in very small amounts. I will have about a half a dozen species left over from a current kitchen and floor remodeling project (our own) that I might give a try. The trouble is that they all weigh around 60 to 70 pounds per cubic foot :) .
