I like your question - "How hard and durable?" My only experience is with a one-part polyurethane, and it seems to scratch easily on beach rocks.

In CLC's "Shop Tips," it says, "Two-part marine polyurethanes, such as Interlux Interthane, have a deep, rich gloss and abrasion resistance that exceeds fiberglass gelcoat. One-part polyurethanes are almost as glossy and durable, but far less expensive and much easier to apply."

Does someone know if two-part is significantly more scratch and chip-resistant, and perhaps therefore worth the effort and cost?
