Really is a turning point to get it wet! I launched at a nearby lake Sunday evening. Nice sun shine and 60 degrees. My wife, Jean her son Josh and Jean's sister was there to witness.
I built the Guillemot 6% oversize from the book. It still needs 2 more coats of varnish, but is 18' long and 63lbs with seats, foot braces, bulkheads (one strip and one minicell 3" foam) and two hatches.
I have pictures but they are being developed, will get them up later.
Many thanks to Nick for the website, book, and great design. When ever I sputtered in the building, just a few minutes reading on this building site got me going again.
One question, I think I know now that I have time to think about it! When I got up to a pretty fast clip, the yak would tend to turn on way slightly and would not come back even with leaning into the turn. Is this because I had my weight too far forward? I have velcro on my seat and can move it back probably 3 inches.
