In Response To: o-ring hatch seal (Jim Martin)

: I have an idea to file a groove in my hatches and then use an o-ring to keep
: them watertight. Both front and back hatches are egg-shaped and will be
: mounted flush to the deck.
: Any comments?
: Thanks Jim
I'V MADE A NUMBER OF FLUSH HATCHES USING SILICONE CORKING. SQUEEZE CORKING ONTO HATCH LIP, COVER HATCH WITH PLASTIC WRAP AND TAPE HATCH BACK INTO THE BOAT.AFTER A FEW DAYS, WHEN THE SILICONE HAS CURED, REMOVE THE HATCH AND PRESTO,A PERFECTLY FORMED HATCH SEAL.
