finaly found a handsaw that sounds like what you gentleman and ladies recomend. Has any one used one of the "Shark" saws?

A second newbie saw question.
When ripping strips do you use a tablesaw or a bandsaw? I'm going to have to buy either one if i can't find a place to rent it, so I need to make the right choice.
