I don't understand why this study on (in)competence has been posted here. I guess I must be incompetent. But that's O.K. -- we're all incompetent and need to trust in Him who is supremely Competent.
Exodus 31.2-5 (regarding the craftsman who was chosen to create some of the temple artifacts) "See, I have chosen Bezalel, son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and the knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship."
Skill (or competence, if you prefer) is God-given. We are not to gloat over our gifts, because others are gifted in ways that we are not.
