Oh, Elliot, now you've done it. This issue is one of the Pandora's Boxes on this BBS.
I, too, have read the System 3 information, including MSDS's and The Epoxy Book, and my take on it was the same as yours: Sensitization is caused by skin contact, and breathing the vapors can be dangerous for those who have been sensitized through contact, but that the vapors themselves do not cause sentization.
That being said, someone did claim that he and his son got some respiratory congestion due to epoxying in the basement of his house. Search for George Roberts' post (and subsequent long thread of responses) entitled "you s.o.b." from a month or two ago.
