In my unscientfific
: opinion if avoiding contact with epoxy is paramount but then how innocuous
: can the vapors be?
I'm in total agreement here.
Corporations have no interest in your health. Don't rely on them to tell you any more than their lawyer's say they can get away with. That's not in their best interest.
If you don't want it on your hands you don't want it in your lungs. You can use a mask to filter out the toxins or you can use your kidneys.
That argument that saftey equipment gets in the way has to bring a smile to the face of every big business owner. I worked in a steel fabricating plant in Detroit one summer in off of college. I wore saftey glasses, dust mask, ear protectors, hard hat, gloves all of it. Most of the other guys wore a hard hat, maybe. There was so much steel/abrasive dust in the air it looked like a North Atlantic fog. These guys would work bare handed with dirty oiled steel, grinding and boring machines with a cig hanging on their lip. "Ah! saftey crap is uncomfortable," they'd say. They'll all probably rustin in their graves.
I use an organic vapor mask whenever using large amounts of epoxy or varnish. I don't for an ounce or less.
The best tools you have are you hands, eyes and brains. Protect them.
Start a good habit of wearing a mask and gloves and stay with it.
