I'd like to do the same sort of thing in maybe New Hampshire or
: Vermont, because I've never been out east. Anyone have any good links to
: bike touring in that area? All I've been able to find is fairly lazy
: inn-to-inn trips -- I need info on camping and good backroads to travel.

Rt.100 in Vermont from the Canadian border down to Mass would be a terrific ride. Only about 200 miles but you could easily add more by swinging back up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Check out this link for biking info;

I hope to do the Rt 100 Vermont ride myself this summer. I hope the weather here in Massachusetts improves soon so I can switch from my mountain (salt) bike to my road bike. I've only biked 300 miles so far this year.

You'll love biking in New England. Better train for the hills though.

All the best,
Rob
