: I just finished filleting a base upon which to screw the foot pegs on the
: inside of the hull. The base is 1/2" thick. The next step calls for
: glassing the inside, but I am concerned that the edge of the footpeg base
: will allow for air pockets. Since I can not bevel 1/2", what filler
: is recomended to create a smooth transition ftom the hull to the base and
: back on to the hull again?
: As always, thanks... this site is indispensable and I would have committed
: twice as many errors without it.
Hi,
I just started looking at this site, so I am not quite sure how you are building the boat, but there are two ways to glass around a bend like that. The first would be to use a very light cloth, such as a veiling cloth, which will work the angles. The other option is to make some filler with your resin and a filling agent like Sil-Cell or Silica. These are fiberglass powders which thicken resin to any consistancy. Make a thick goo, and fill the gap in that way. If you run your finger down it, and make it curved, then the glass will set better on top of it.
