The Mill Creek series all have multichined hulls with relatively narrow planks. Once you get done taping the seams on the interior with 4" 9oz. glass tape there's not much left that hasn't been sheathed. The narrowness of the planking and the relatively sharp chine angles of this design all give it more strength than more traditional shapes. If built to plan the one piece bottom (no center seam) is 1/4" (6mm) which also adds to it's overall strength. So I would be careful drawing any general conclusions from this design's characteristics.
