: the entire paragrpah reads

: As a test I built a kayak using the materials and following the methods given
: in Mr. Shade's book. After a proper period of curing I put the boat in the
: water and paddled to Mackinaw Island from the mainland. Landing in 6"
: chop on a shore comprised of sand with a few 6" diameter rocks put a
: hole in the hull - a 12" tear through the cloth and along the strips
: in the hull. A second boat built following Mr. Moores methods had a
: similar fate. If you read the posts on the woodstrip building bulletin
: boards, you will note that many people have durability problems and many
: regarded their first couple boats as "learning experiences

: what motre can I say.
So what is the difference between yours and theirs, Mr. Roberts? You infer that your boats are both lighter and stronger, and you continue to hammer these points. You also say that you have no intentions nor interest in selling anyone here on this forum anything. You continually say that those who follow in the footsteps of the book writers and the developers of the plans are placing their safety in jeopardy, yet you offer no details or constructive assistance for improvement of these "deficiencies". You do however, offer to professionally "consult" with folks, if they want to fork over some big ol' fee, or you say that you build boats professionally, albeit for incredibly unrealistic sums of cash. But yet you don't show any of your product and you give no real foundation as to why yours are so much better. If you want to be helpful, Mr. Roberts, then please, by all means, be helpful.......everyone is listening (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting......). Otherwise, leave it be, go paddling, or go sell one of your friends a 20,000 dollar boat. As it stands, you are of no help.

There is always risk in putting yourself in a harsh environment in small vessels (or in any vessel), even if the boat were "indestructible". But, folks have done it for years and will continue to do so, most knowing the risks. And those who are not comfortable with, or have proven (through hopefully, controlled "sea trials") that their boats are not up to the task, will make improvemnts themselves, or they will enlist the help of someone who can lead them toward that goal, like a NA who is familiar with the materials in question and the limitations therin.......someone with whom they have confidence in........apparrently, "you ain't him".

This thread has gone on for far too long and is quite rediculous......just be helpful or be silent. I've no quarrel with you or anyone else, but the deal here is that you are giving no one any reason to beleive your statements on superior boat construction.....kinda like that little white speck on the top of chicken!@#$,..... it's interesting and kinda makes you wonder why it is there, but 'til proven otherwise, it's still just chicken!@#$.
