: On my current Pygmy Coho project, as per instructions, I jammed a small piece
: of plywood in the bow, filled it with wood flour-thickened epoxy, then
: proceeded to attach the deck to the hull.
: The next day I looked up into the bow and discovered that my little epoxy dam
: had somehow managed to fall out of place. Maybe it was the epoxy got hot
: and more fluid, or maybe I bumped it somehow getting the deck into
: position.
Being totally new at this, is it common to do the end pour with the boat lying flat? Nick says in his book to stand it up for the pour, and it's a "pour" not a thickened slather. This makes great sense to me, but I'm wondering about the reasons to not do it that way. Filled and thickened epoxy is lighter, but I can't imagine that being a significant reason. Anything else, aside from the obvious convenience?
Mike.
