: When I am ready to fiberglass the inside of my haul I am planning on mixing
: 1/4" chopped fiberglass into a paste and troweling it for a foot or
: two along the ends with a 1 1/2" radius tool. It seems so easy to do
: while everything is wide open and the chopped glass will give it great
: strength. Am I missing something that a boat standing on end and pored
: would give?

Hi John
Don't quote me on this..... but I think there is a two-fold purpose for the end pours. 1) To aid in the strength of the tip of the bow. 2) To give you a silid place to drill through for your little handle/rope. I don't think it has to be solid epoxy, but rather just a solid mixture of fillers and epoxy. I've read of those who do it with their boats in the standing position and also those who do the "dam and pour" in the hull before piecing it together. I don't see that it makes much difference in either case, but I would think you'd want to keep it as light as possible and keep it in the tip where you will need to drill the hole only. Any more would be just unwanted weight.
